Lieberman, 50, signs with WNBA's Shock

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 07.25.2008 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Detroit Shock signed 50-year-old Nancy Lieberman, a Hall of Famer and one of their former coaches, to a seven-day contract Thursday but was expected to play only Thursday night in Houston. Lieberman played nine minutes and had two assists in a 79-61 loss. She did not score. "It's really a one-game deal," Lieberman said before the game. "My motivation stems from the fact that I love this game, and I never stopped playing it, whether it's a pickup game with Deion Sanders and Tony Romo at a church or at a park with my son."
