By Maureen Wallenfang • Post-Crescent staff writer • July 24, 2008 The former Los Compadres on Appleton’s east side, near Wal-Mart, is poised to come back to life as a Mexican restaurant, but with new owners, a new menu and a new name. Mi Pueblo will likely open sometime next week at 3825 E. Calumet St. after the city signs off on the last inspections and permits. It’s owned by three brothers, Julio, Polo and Reynaldo Herrera. Reynaldo is the manager. Polo is the chef. Julio will oversee operations at both this restaurant and the other he co-owns in Ashwaubenon called Los Magueyes. Los Compadres closed last August when its owner, Jose Becerra, ran into financial difficulties.
