Grenade prompts attack in northern Lebanon

TRIPOLI, Lebanon, July 25 (UPI) -- Violence surfaced Friday in two districts of Tripoli in northern Lebanon after a hand grenade was set off in Bab El-Tabbaneh, security officials said. The explosion touched off a confrontation between residents of Bab El-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, in which machine guns and other weapons were used, reported KUNA, the Kuwaiti news agency. Officials said snipers fired shots along International Road, which links Tripoli to Akkar, prompting security forces to close the highway and divert traffic.
