CARDIFF won the Algarve Cup by beating lacklustre Celtic as Darren O’Dea became the latest injury victim for Gordon Strachan. Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant, spying on various targets for Rangers, looked on as the defender had to play with his head bandaged following a collision. Celtic had used every outfield substitute by then. Gary Caldwell and Scott McDonald had just come on when the Irishman fell in pain. Strachan’s options had dwindled before the game and the 24-man squad that left Southampton on Friday night is now down to 16 fit players – and one of them now has a sore head.
