Company's Name To Be TD Bank

The combined operations of Portland, Maine-based TD Banknorth and New Jersey-based Commerce Bank will be known as TD Bank. The merged company faced legal challenges to using the TD Commerce Bank name. The company was prevented from using that name on signs and marketing material in some counties in Massachusetts because of a trademark infringement lawsuit by Worcester-based Commerce Bank & Trust.
