Islamabad As many as 95 patients suffering from gastroenteritis ended up for treatment in the emergency department of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) during the last 24 hours. A majority of the patients were severely dehydrated and in a state of shock, the hospital’s spokesman Dr. Waseem Khwaja informed on Thursday. Even though the incidence of gastroenteritis has registered an increase of 2% from last year, the condition has neither assumed the shape of an epidemic, nor has any gastroenteritis-induced death been reported so far, Dr. Waseem said in response to a question.
