Blues Marathon to be bigger

The Clarion-Ledger • July 24, 2008 The second annual Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, organizers announced Thursday. Approximately 1,400 competitors from 41 states, the District of Columbia and three foreign countries came to Jackson for the inaugural race last January, and organizers are planning for 3,000 competitors in 2009. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is continuing its role as title sponsor. Runners will again compete for a portion of the total prize money of $30,000. The race, which serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, will begin and end in the Fondren district. For more info, visit www.msbluesmarathon.com.
