ANC disputes reports of dwindling support base

The ANC in the Northern Cape has described as very cheap propaganda, reports by some political agencies which claim that the party has lost hundreds of it's supporters to the Independent Democrats (ID). The ruling party dismissed the allegations at a media briefing in Kimberley. It says it has claimed victory over the ID in five of the six towns which recently held by-elections. The ANC lambasted political agencies for declaring the ID victorious, particularly in coloured communities. This comes after the weekend Idasa and Markinor reports that it is losing its grip in the Northern and Western Cape. But the ANC's Northern Cape maintains that its support has never taken a dip at any given time.
