Turkey Bombs Guerrillas In Iraq

Turkish warplanes have bombed Kurdish rebel hideouts in northern Iraq in the first air raid in the region since mid-December, the military has said. A group of mostly female PKK guerrillas at a base near Rania in northern Iraq The "intensive" strike targeted Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) hideouts in the Zap area along the Turkish frontier, which is known as a major rebel stronghold. A statement on a Turkish military website said: "All 13 targets were successfully hit. It said the military was trying to determine how many PKK militants had been killed, adding: "Operations as part of the fight against terrorism will continue with determination both at home and abroad."
