Comic books are filled with stories about protagonists overcoming seemingly impossible odds as they fight for truth, justice and the American way. Where better to chronicle the stories of Senators John McCain and Barack Obama and their bids for the White House? “There have been comic book biographies before, that’s now new,” said Scott Dunbier, special projects editor at IDW, which will publish the comics. “But we’re talking about a story that isn’t finished: two views of the candidates, two men who are both vying for what is arguably the most important job in the world.” The comics went from ideas to production in about a week. “We don’t have a lot of red tape,” Mr. Dunbier said of IDW, a division of the IDT Internet Mobile Group.
