Public Hearings To Be Held On Bridge Toll Hike

Public hearings will be held July 22 on the proposed bridge toll hike. The Delaware River Port Authority wants to raise tolls on its four bridges. If the plan is approved, there will be two price increases. The first would start in September with the fare increasing to $4. Then, in September 2009, the fare would go up again to $5. PATCO fares would also go up. The Port Authority says it needs $1 billion to make improvements to its bridges.
