Senate Committee To Examine Payroll Tax Abuse, by Leroy Baker, Tax-News.com, New York A United States Senate panel will next week hold a hearing to examine how an increase in payroll tax evasion among America's employers can be tackled. The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations has scheduled a hearing, "Payroll Tax Abuse: Businesses Owe Billions and What Needs To Be Done About It," for Tuesday, 29th July, 2008. The Subcommittee hearing will examine the magnitude of outstanding payroll tax debt, the policies and procedures that are used to collect unpaid payroll taxes, and whether some businesses are engaged in abusive or potentially criminal activities with regard to the payment of payroll taxes.
