LOS ANGELES -- City and police officials announced a $50,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of a murdered sailor. Councilmember Jose Huizar and member of the Los Angeles Police Department announced the reward at a news conference. Family member of murder victim Jesus Guevara attended the news conference. Guevara, who was on active duty in the Navy from 2001 to 2005 before serving in the Naval Reserves, was killed Aug. 18, 2007. He was shot and killed outside a liquor store after cashing a check, police said. Guevara, 24, also served in Thailand in 2005 to assist with tsunami relief.
