Mine rockfall was 'quicker than you could blink'

One of the miners rescued from the Beaconfield rockfall has relived the events at a Launceston inquest this morning. Todd Russell was the first witness at the inquest into the death of miner Larry Knight more than two years ago. Todd Russell and Brant Webb were trapped for two weeks after the Anzac Day rockfall. Mr Russell told the inquest it was unusally quiet the day of the rockfall. He said: 'It happened so quickly, quicker than you could blink'. Beaconsfield Gold has apologised to Mr Knight's family, who say they are devastated by the company's decision not to take part in the inquest, other than providing four witnesses.
