When my brother called about it, I was elated. It seemed too good to be true. Landlord Brian M. Then she learned her daughter was pregnant. “I said, ‘Oh my God, there’s lead here,’ ” Ms. Saez recalled yesterday. “I really didn’t want to move. I need a stable place for my kids, and now my granddaughter.” But lead paint chips and dust pose a serious health risk to children under 6 years old.
