County won't buy Nederland parcel

NEDERLAND - Boulder County officials will continue its search for a wood and slash drop-off site after rejecting a proposal to purchase a property just south of Nederland. Boulder County Commissioners Will Toor, Ben Pearlman and Cindy Domenico voted against the purchase of 13.8 acres at 24393 Peak to Peak Highway after a majority of residents attending recent public meetings voiced opposition to the plan. Residents were concerned about the site's proximity to Nederland, traffic, noise and visual buffers. The county previously had negotiated a purchase price of $179,250 for the land. The commissioners are still looking for land to help the area deal with the spreading beetle infestation in Colorado, which is killing off fields of mature lodgepole pines in the mountains.
