ONTARIO, Calif. -- A driver shot at an Ontario police officer as he fled a traffic stop on foot Tuesday morning, police said. The officer returned fire and gave chase while the suspect, Jason Granado, 41, of Pomona tried to hide in a nearby home, Officer Bill Russell said. A police helicopter spotted the suspect and led patrol units to his location where he was arrested. Officers recovered a handgun. Granado is wanted for robbery and weapons charges in Arizona and was on parole for a drug trafficking conviction, Russell said. Granado was charged with attempted homicide of a police officer and home invasion robbery. The officer, whose identity was not released Tuesday night, was not injured in the incident.
