Three injured in airboat crash at former resort site

BY MEGAN DOWNS • FLORIDA TODAY • July 21, 2008 Three people were injured in an airboat crash this afternoon at the old Sweetwater Family Resort, Brevard County emergency personnel said. Two of those injured were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, one with severe injuries that classified the patient as a “trauma alert” victim, said Orlando Dominguez, spokesman for Brevard County Fire-Rescue. Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has not yet said how many boats were involved in the crash at Sweetwater, located on U.S. 192, west of Interstate 95, which used to be an active fish camp on a canal off the St. Johns river.
