Megamall ride marathon winner prevails after 20 hours

He endured speeds of 43 miles per hour and 4 G's of force during a Megamall marathon aboard the Avatar Bender thrill ride. We have a winner in the marathon thrill ride competition at the Mall of America. Jim Salava, a high school teacher from North St. Paul, was the last person on the Avatar Airbender at the Nickelodeon Universe theme park, winning the Ride the Tide Challenge and a Caribbean cruise for four. Salava, 40, was among nine riders who climbed aboard at 6:30 a.m. Monday. The field quickly shrank to three, and then Salava prevailed when his final rival gave up at 2:35 a.m. today.
