EU space affairs ministers meet on policies, projects

The European ministers hoped to improve the EU system of Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) in a bid to provide reliable data on climate change, the environment and natural disasters as well as offering a basis for the EU to make policies on environmental protection and take precautionary measures. PARIS, July 21 (Xinhua) -- European Union's space affairs ministers on Monday met at the spaceport of Kourou, French Guiana to discuss issues related to space policies and projects. The European ministers talked about the role that space technology can play in tackling climate change at the two-day meeting convened by France, the current holder of the rotating EU presidency.
