As soon as the city began to experience job losses, officials noted a flow of violence become more apparent. To counteract the violence, city leaders organized volunteers to ask local employers to hire students for summer jobs. Within six hours… the group secured 165 jobs, including 15 for the Brockton Rox baseball team. According to the Center for Labor Market Studies of Northeastern University, they say that teen employment will not rise above 34%.
