Trinidad official says 5 offshore blocks to be offered for gas exploration : Trinidad and Tobago's energy minister says the Caribbean nation will offer five offshore blocks for natural gas exploration later this year. Conrad Enill says the gas-rich country will develop tax incentives by October to encourage foreign companies to begin a costly deep-water search for gas deposits. Larry McHalffey, an engineer with Houston-based consultant Ryder Scott, told reporters Tuesday that Trinidad's current gas reserves can meet all its contractual needs for at least 13 more years.
