Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill said a new ad by GOP presidential candidate John McCain blaming Barack Obama for high gas prices is a lie. "In campaign ads you have distortions, you have the twisted truth, and then you have what we call the big whopper," McCaskill said. "This ad is the big whopper." The ad, an unmistakable attack on McCain's Democratic rival, began airing in Missouri Monday and will begin running in Wisconsin on Tuesday. In what has become a clear campaign strategy to meet attacks with quick responses, the Obama campaign Tuesday organized a media conference call with high-profile Obama backers to refute McCain.
