"We get criticized for not covering enough hard news," NBC News President Steve Capus told members of the Television Critics Association. "Look how many stories are being covered on the Obama trip - Israel, the Middle East, the war." Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," said NBC would very likely have covered Sen. John McCain's Middle East trip in March "if his campaign hadn't decided to make it a CBS exclusive." Neither Capus nor MSNBC commentator/anchor Olbermann fully rose to the bait dangled earlier in the TCA convention by Chris Wallace of Fox News, who suggested among other things that MSNBC undercuts its own credibility by having opinion commentators anchor election night coverage.
