The executive director of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History today announced that he will retire Aug. 31. Bruce Latimer, 54, has been with the museum since 1989 in various capacities and has held the top post since 2001. Upon retirement, he will return to research, teaching and writing. He also is an adjunct associate professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine’s Department of Anatomy, in CWRU’s anthropology department and in the Department of Anthropology at Cleveland State University. “While it has been tremendously rewarding to serve as the executive director here, it’s time for me to return to academics — teaching, researching and writing — and allow for the transition to a new leader who will complete the transformational expansion and renovation of this wonderful institution,” Dr. Latimer said....
