Memorial Services Set For Fouty

WALLED LAKE, Mich. -- Army Spc Byron W. Fouty will be remembered and laid to rest this week. A public visitation will be held on Monday at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home in Walled Lake from 4 to 9 p.m. On Tuesday, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Brightmoor Tabernacle, 40800 West 13 Mile Road in Novi. A funeral will follow Friday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, where Fouty's mother lives. Fouty was among seven American soldiers assigned to the 10th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum, N.Y. whose patrol was ambushed May 12, 2007, about 20 miles outside of Baghdad. Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack Jr., Sgt. 1st Class James D. Connell Jr., Pfc. Daniel W. Courneya, Cpl. Christopher E. Murphy, and Sgt. Anthony J. Schober died and their bodies were recovered. The bodies of Fouty and Sgt.
