400-pound sunfish washes ashore in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City Beach Patrol Captain Butch Arbin says it appears a boat propeller killed the 400-pound sunfish that washed ashore Monday at 26th Street. The carcass was an unusual find. Arbin says he seldom sees sunfish in the area. He says the dead fish was found with four parallel slices to the body and part of its head was missing. With help from two of his lifeguards, Arbin dragged the carcass off the sand. He says putting it back in the water was not an option, because it could pose a hazard to swimmers and boaters.
