Williams scraped past John McDermott by majority points decision at a raucous Goresbrook Leisure Centre despite controversially having three points deducted in the two last rounds by referee Dave Parris for separate infringements. The occasion proved quite a comedown for the mercurial Williams from the heady peak of victory over Mike Tyson followed by the chance to top the bill against Vitali Klitschko on the Las Vegas Strip.
