Local Leaders Call for Bond Measure to Fix State Water System

Jul. 19--The crippled Sacramento-San Joaquin delta estuary should be fixed with money from a state bond put on the November ballot, County water officials. If the critical link in the state's water supply is not restored, the leaders warned that California and especially San Diego County would face drastic restrictions on water use. The estuary supplies a third of San Diego County's water. "Water rationing for residents and businesses may soon be imposed in San Diego County," said Fern Steiner, chairwoman of the San Diego County Water Authority, which is endorsing the ballot measure.
