But there were tears as the quiet, beloved Sox great spoke of his gratitude and love for family, fans and the Sox organization as a bronze statue of him was unveiled Sunday on the right-field concourse at U.S. Cellular Field. ''I'm grateful, honored,'' Baines said before a pregame ceremony that drew former teammates Carlton Fisk, Robin Ventura and Ron Kittle and former general manager Roland Hemond, the man who drafted him.
