A Redding man was arrested Saturday afternoon after a car was burglarized in a parking lot at The Mall in downtown Redding. Witnesses saw a man break the car's window, take a backpack and run into an alley toward the rear of Jack's Grill on California Street, said Redding police Sgt. Eric Wallace. Moments later, officers Rebecca Zufall and Luke Blehm found Martin George Dalbec, 20, in the parking lot of the Redding Inn and took him into custody, Wallace said. Officers found the backpack and returned it to the car's owner, Wallace said. Dalbec was booked into the Shasta County jail on suspicion of felony vehicle burglary.
