By Dan Hinxman • dhinxman@rgj.com • July 19, 2008 Former Wolf Pack golfer Michael Allen and former major champion Steve Elkington are the latest players to sign up for the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, the tournament office announced Saturday. The 49-year-old Allen, most known for earning a record nine PGA Tour cards through qualifying school, has played the best golf of his career in the last few years. He has two second-place finishes in his career, one in 2004 and the other last season. In 2007, he finished tied for ninth at the RTO and had his first million-dollar year, which allowed him to avoid a 14th trip to Q school. His best finish this year is a tie for sixth at the Travelers Championship on June 22. The 10th annual RTO is July 31-Aug. 3 at Montreux Golf & Country Club.
