Heavy rain, touchdown reports hit metro area

Damage was light. More storms expected Sunday. A series of storms swept through the Twin Cities Saturday afternoon, suspending play in the 3M golf tournament in Blaine, dousing parts of the metro area with rain, and bringing several reports of tornado touchdowns. A tornado watch was slated to stay in effect until late Saturday night for the Twin Cities area, much of southeastern and south-central Minnesota, and eastern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service reported a possible tornado touchdown near Big Lake, in Sherburne County, but there were no reports of damage. A Sherburne County Sheriff's Office dispatcher said there were no confirmed reports of any tornadoes. "We got downed power lines; that's it," she said.
