The WNBA is bringing its game to the house that tennis legends Arthur Ashe and Billie Jean King built and making its own history. The first outdoor game in WNBA (or NBA) history will be staged Saturday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, between the Indiana Fever and New York Liberty. The Flushing Meadows stadium, which annually hosts tennis' final grand slam of the year, the U.S. Open, will be home to a sporting event other than tennis for the first time. The Liberty Outdoor Classic was the creation of Liberty executives, who pitched it to the WNBA's front office before this season and worked to stage it with the United States Tennis Association.
