The Sports Network With the insane wind conditions, some of the busiest people at Royal Birkdale on Saturday were rules officials. Balls were oscillating all over Royal Birkdale and at one point, Anthony Kim brought in an official with the hope of getting the third round suspended due to unplayable conditions. Kim could not keep his ball on the green at the 10th hole after marking it. "I marked it and put it back down, so I couldn't replace it, and had to play it from where it was lying," said Kim. "We stood there 30 or 40 minutes (while waiting for a rules judgment). It felt like forever, but we got through it."
