Honor took Deromedi by surprise

Former Central Michigan football coach and athletic director Herb Deromedi expected to find women's shoes in the box he received via express mail. Instead he found a football and a letter notifying him he would be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. Deromedi's wife, Marilyn, wasn't home when the package arrived. The couple had planned a vacation to Washington, and Deromedi assumed his wife had ordered new shoes for the trip. "I wanted to see what kind of shoes she got," said Deromedi, who was stunned when he discovered the box's contents. Deromedi, 59, is the first CMU representative to be enshrined in the college hall. He was CMU's coach from 1978 to 1993 and had a career record of 110-55-1. He won more games than any other coach in Mid-American Conference history and led the Chippewas to three conference titles...
