24 years later, Bodine wins again

By TOM KREAGER • Staff Writer • July 19, 2008 Geoff Bodine added to his collection of guitars Friday night. Bodine, who 24 years ago won the final Winston Cup race in Nashville, edged local favorite Sterling Marlin by two car lengths to win the Old School Racing 30-lap race at Music City Motorplex. "It's another feather in the cap," Bodine said. "Winning always means something, especially when you are racing against drivers like this." Eleven former NASCAR drivers including Harry Gant, Randy LaJoie and Dave Marcis started the race, which kicked off the Motorplex's 50th year of paved racing. Jack Ingram, who won the first Busch race at the track in 1984, brushed the wall on lap seven to force the first of two cautions. He parked his car and did not return.
