Magic GM Smith says he's unaware of reports of deal with Nets for Dooling

posted by Kyle Hightower on Jul 18, 2008 9:53:00 PM Though reports by both the Bergen Record and Sporting News reported late Friday that that the Orlando Magic and New Jersey Nets were close to a sign and trade involving embattled guard Keyon Dooling, Orlando GM Otis Smith has denied the report. The Record report cited league sources that said the Magic would sign Dooling to a three-year deal worth about $10.5 million and then send him to the Nets for $3.3 million trade exception that they acquired when Jason Kidd was dealt to Dallas in February. The report said the deal likely wouldn't be finalized until next week. “It’s hard for me to comment on something I know nothing about,” Smith told the Sentinel Friday night.
