Suspect Sought In Assault On Police Officer

Montgomery County police are searching for a man who struggled with a police officer in Silver Spring. Police say Officer Douglas Styles was on foot patrol about 1 a.m. Wednesday about in the 2300-block of Ladymeade Drive when he tried to make contact with a man who ran off. Styles caught up with the man and a struggle ensued. The officer used pepper spray to subdue the man and during the struggle, the man pointed a handgun at Styles. During the struggle, Styles' firearm was discharged. The officer was not hurt; it is not known if the suspect was struck.
