New crop of talented young players break into the bigs With everything that Pittsburgh Pirates rookie pitcher Yoslan Herrera has been through in his life, one rough start in his debut is not going to sidetrack him. Nor is it going to keep the Pirates from sending him back to the mound for another start. The Cuban-born right-hander was recalled from Double-A Altoona on July 12, when pitcher Phil Dumatrait went on the DL and fellow hurler Luis Munoz was sent back to Altoona (without getting into a game). He started that night against St. Louis and allowed six runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings, but the Pirates went on to win, 12-11, in extra innings.
