HOBART, Ind., July 16 (UPI) -- A rookie on the Hobart, Ind., police force was unceremoniously stripped of his patrol car when it was nearly totaled by a man who lost control of his vehicle. Timothy Pochran said he had been a police officer for less than half an hour when a car driven by William Vith slammed into his squad car, which had been parked outside of his home, the Gary (Ind.) Post-Tribune reported Wednesday. Police spokesman Lt. Steve Houck said Vick was charged with reckless driving and tested positive for marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs. The collision bent the rear axel of Pochran's squad car, but Houck said the department will make sure the new officer isn't stuck without a vehicle while the cruiser is repaired.
