The weather was chilly in Aberdeen yesterday but its football ground bathed in the warm glow of an era which is gone but not forgotten. This may have been the opening pre-season fixture for Jimmy Calderwood and his current players but they weren't the reason more than 20,000 filled the stands. This was about the stardust of a strong Manchester United team and the chance to reminisce about a summit which was reached in 1983. It was billed as the Gothenburg Greats 25th Anniversary Testimonial match, which amounted to a new season being eclipsed by old, fond memories.
