Kids get dirty at Mud Day

BY CECIL ANGEL • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • July 8, 2008 Mud races, mud limbo, mud volleyball and a lot of jumping and sloshing around in a giant smelly mud pit were all part of Mud Day at the Nankin Mills County Park in Westland today. At the annual event sponsored by the Wayne County Parks Division, about 700 children from toddlers to teens gathered at the park for fun and fames. They came from all over from Detroit to South Lyon to participate in the county’s mud festival that has been in existence since 1988. Marrisa Johnson, 14, of Van Buren Township, and Noah Baekelandt, 9, of Livonia, were crowned Ms. And Mr. Mud 2008.
