July 9 (Reuters) - Three police officers and three gunmen were killed in a gun battle at the entrance of the United States consulate in Istanbul on Wednesday. Following is a chronology of some major incidents at embassies and consulates around the world in the last ten years. Aug. 7, 1998 - KENYA/TANZANIA - Truck bombs explode at the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, killing 224 people, including 12 Americans, and wounding thousands. Oct. 1, 1999 - THAILAND - Five attackers storm Myanmar embassy in Bangkok and hold 89 people hostage for 25 hours. Aug. 1, 2000 - INDONESIA - Two people are killed in a bomb attack outside the Philippine embassy in Jakarta.
