Posted on: Tuesday, 8 July 2008, 06:00 CDT By Maggie Lillis By MAGGIE LILLIS REVIEW-JOURNAL A Romanian woman visiting Southern Nevada for the Fourth of July and an Arizona man boating with family died in unrelated incidents Thursday in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The deaths, one at Lake Mead and the other at Lake Mohave, both part of the 1.5 million acre recreation area, propelled the number of fatalities for the year to 17. Officials say that number isn't unusual. Thursday's incidents do underscore the potential dangers of boating and swimming in Southern Nevada's lakes, particularly during the busiest time of the year. More than 200,000 people are expected to visit the park for the holiday. Lake Mead spokeswoman Roxanne Dey estimated there will be about 5,000 boats on both lakes. Officials at the recreation area...
