The jailed sister-in-law of drug trafficker Tony Mokbel is expected to plead guilty to perjury charges. Renate Lisa Mokbel, 37, appeared via videolink in the Victorian County Court for a mention hearing on Tuesday. At the hearing, her solicitor, gangland lawyer Zarah Garde-Wilson, indicated Mokbel would plead guilty to two counts of perjury. She was sent to prison last year for failing to provide a $1 million surety for Tony Mokbel, who skipped bail during a drug trial. Renate Mokbel is married to Tony's brother Milad, and pledged a $1 million house in Brunswick as surety. The new charges she is expected to plead guilty to include falsely stating that she was the owner of the Brunswick property and lying about her assets at a Supreme Court hearing.
