Nunavut trio vie to be Canada

The dream of venturing into space is a bit closer to reality for three Nunavummiut, who are among more than 5,500 Canadians who have applied to be Canada's newest astronauts. The Canadian Space Agency has confirmed that three Nunavut residents have applied to venture into space, and all three have met the agency's preliminary requirements. "We know that in the territories, there [are] an increasing number of individuals that attend university and get diplomas," Stéphane Corbin, manager of the CSA's recruitment campaign, told CBC News. "Obviously, you had a few that were qualified in terms of having studied the right fields, in the right domain, in order to apply. So we're really pleased about it."
