Warriors' Davis, Clippers' Brand shock clubs, opt out

Gilbert Arenas vowed not to return to Washington unless Antawn Jamison re-signed with the team, but Jamison agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with the team Monday. The NBA free agent market was expected to be quiet this summer, but Baron Davis made some waves late Monday night. The Golden State point guard elected to become a free agent, opting out of the final year of his contract with the Warriors in a surprise move. Davis had until Monday night to decide whether to turn down his $17.8 million contract for next season, the final year in a six-year deal. Davis still could return to Golden State as a free agent, but his opt-out clause was his only leverage in forcing contract talks with the Warriors before next summer.
