"Michael was an amazing artist who created Witchblade and Fathom (he also did a great cover for Battlestar Galactica)," writes Rose C. "I met him a couple of times at conventions, and he was truly a down-to-earth kind of guy. He was always available to fans for autographs and sketches." Rose adds, "His passing has affected the comic-book world, and news of his death was (taken) hard with his friends, colleagues and fans at the Wizard World Chicago convention this past weekend."
