Taught for teacher

By MICHAEL BRINDLEY Staff Writer mbrindley@nashuatelegraph.com NASHUA – Cathy Boutin, a veteran teacher of 22 years, is used to standing at the head of the classroom in front of her students. But last week, the roles were reversed, and Boutin, a middle school math teacher in West Warwick, R.I., was the one sitting and taking notes. As part of the federal Department of Education's Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative, the department sponsored a two-day conference at Daniel Webster College last week at which nationally recognized teachers shared their strategies for improving student achievement. The conference was free, and Boutin was one of 180 teachers to take advantage.
